Have questions about renting a self-storage unit in Norfolk? Call Tidewater Drive Storage Center at 757-333-7800 today!
When you can break a bit from holiday shopping, take a moment to think about your needs this season, particularly where storage is concerned.
Norfolk self-storage comes in handy for homeowners who take pride in showing their holiday spirit. While garages are nice for holding small decorations and a spool or two of lights, you will want a secure, climate-controlled unit to hold larger displays and preserve them for holidays to come.
If you don’t decorate at the Griswold family level, you may not think of self-storage as a necessity. Consider this, though: even if you stick with a simple artificial tree and few Santa-themed knickknacks, you can still get the most out of a self-storage rental during and after the holidays.
Self-Storage as Santa’s “Workshop”
Is this the year loved ones are getting the big gifts – the bicycle, the flatscreen, the giant Barbie townhouse? It’s important to have a secure place to hide everything so curious eyes and hands aren’t checking the closets at home. It’s not unusual to see our customers storing presents with us until it’s time to put them under the tree. We love being part of a nice surprise, and we provide a secure place for your things so you don’t have to worry about damage. When new furniture and electronics arrive as holiday gifts, your unit remains to hold what you remove from your home until you decide where these surplus belongings should go.
A Place For Your (Holiday) Stuff
At Tidewater Drive Storage Center, our climate-controlled units help prevent fragile and vintage decorations from getting musty or moldy, but if you have items made partly from organic materials, like garlands and pine wreaths, you should be careful with them. If they are properly preserved (i.e. the branches dried and the needles sprayed with shellac) they may last in storage until next Christmas.
For large inflatables or other displays, keep them in their original packaging for easy identification when you bring them back. If you don’t have the boxes, use airtight plastic bins and label them as Christmas decorations. Use spools to pack strands of light so they won’t get tangled or knotted for next year.
Also, if you do store Christmas gifts with any facility, be mindful of holiday hours and get everything before the place closes. You don’t want to be locked out of your unit’s entrance and have nothing to give Christmas morning!
If you’re new to Tidewater Drive Storage Center, you may qualify to get the first month of rent with us for a dollar.
